Dr.-Ing. Eric Borrmann

Dr.-Ing. Eric Borrmann is a mechanical engineer, Patent Attorney, authorized representative before the European Patent Office, and European Patent Litigator (UPC).

After studying mechanical engineering with a focus on automotive engineering at RWTH Aachen University, Dr. Borrmann earned his doctorate in the field of numerical simulation. In his dissertation, he developed a parallelized finite element flow solver for the precise calculation of complex fluid flows, particularly in the context of maritime propulsion systems.

In addition to his strong engineering background, Dr. Borrmann has extensive experience in applying artificial intelligence to technical problems. While working at the Institute of General Mechanics at RWTH Aachen University, he combined classical materials mechanics with modern machine learning methods, for example by developing neural networks for estimating the service life of hip prostheses. He later developed AI-based models for simulating thermodynamic processes at a development service provider for combustion engines.

As a patent attorney, Dr. Borrmann combines classical engineering sciences with the latest technologies. His interdisciplinary background—ranging from finite element analysis and mechanical design to data-driven modeling with AI—makes him a sought-after contact for innovative companies at the interface between traditional mechanical engineering, simulation technology, and future technologies.
